Laboratory for Sustainable Catalytic Processes

Combating the plastic waste crisis with catalysis and reaction engineering

Our research focuses on new catalysts and reaction engineering to address the post-consumer plastic accumulation in landfills and the environment. By designing advanced catalytic processes, it transforms discarded plastics into valuable waxes, surfactants, lubricants, and fuels. Our goal is to design low-temperature, energy-efficient reactions for real-world contaminated plastic streams.

Research approach

Our research explores catalyst design from the atomic scale to the reactor scale, integrating active site engineering, spatial organization of catalytic components in the formulated particle, and innovative reactor design principles to drive the development of more sustainable chemical processes.
